Hooked on crack-away

Remember the ‘Once you pop you can’t stop” Pringles ad? Well, saltine toffee provides the same experience - once you try, you’ll be hooked and coming back for more of the sweet and salty delicious goodness.

This is one of my seasonal desserts that either i bring for potlucks, serve when i’m hosting or give away to my neighbors as holiday treats!

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve Saltine crackers

  • 1 cup sugar (brown)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

  • 1 bag chocolate morsels (i’ve tried Nestle, Ghirardelli and lately Guittard!)

  • 1 cup or half a cup of chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions:

1. Line a cookie sheet with aluminum foil, grease a bit then place Saltine crackers on foil
2. Melt butter in microwave, then add sugar to butter and stir. Evenly spread
the butter + sugar mixture on crackers

3. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 20 minutes (or you can take it out after 18 minutes)

4. Remove from oven and sprinkle morsels over entire cookie sheet

5. Return it to the oven just long enough to melt the morsels.
6. Remove from oven and spread chocolate evenly. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts (or pecans) all over.

Cooling Part

  1. Cool off for a bit (~20 minutes)

  2. Put in the freezer (20 minutes)

  3. When cool, peel back the foil and breakaway the candy

  4. Enjoy!

Ready for the freezer!
