Beef + Greens Stir Fry

This recipe is my simplified (less ingredients) version of the regular beef & broccoli dish that I’m sure all of you have had a few times from your local Chinese spot.

As beef is so versatile for stir fry, you can pretty much use any of your favorite veggies - bell peppers, snap peas, broccoli (Chinese or American), mushrooms and so on. Lately, i had been buying choy sum from the nearby Mitsuwa Japanese Marketplace on my weekly Asian grocery runs.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • .5 lb thinly sliced beef (store bought, Asian market)

  • 2 zucchinis

  • half of choy sum package

  • 2 shallots (use regular onions if preferred)

  • 2 tablespoon of oyster sauce

  • vegetable oil (canola oil or peanut oil)

  • salt and pepper

  • 3 tablespoon water

  1. Season beef with salt & pepper. Sautee in high heat, a(~3 minutes). Set it aside.

  2. Using the same pan, sautee shallots for 2 minutes, then add the sliced zucchinis and choy sum.

  3. Add the meat, mix all ingredients together, add oyster sauce, water then stir fry for the next 10 minutes or more depending on the crispness you want your veggie to be!

Optional: If you want a lil bit of kick, add chili oil or red pepper flakes.

Serve over white or brown rice! Enjoy!
